black lace bandanna

the dark widow weeping
she trails her grief behind her
sadness drips from her
leaving pools of slippery
for others to trip and fall
and whenever they do
she just turns to them
in her sadness and makes them
feel her grief
they cry

he targets those weeping widows
he revels in the overwhelming
emotion they force others to feel
it is the only time
he feels connected
he stalks them
attempts to overwhelm their sadness
with anxiety or panic
sometimes he succeeds

Amanda just lost her husband
the love of her life
and her grief was very affecting

our nameless villain
broke into her home
and stole her black lace
that covered the mirrors
he would dance with it
in the moonlight
wearing a smile

he broke into her home again
at took photos off the walls
he placed them in a circle and
danced in center of the frames
wearing the lace and a smile
under the next full moon

Amanda waited
quietly, patiently
she waited for the villain
and one night
he arrived, broke in
he wore some of her black lace
as a bandanna
she watched him silently
and used a bat to knock him out

the sirens woke him
he was bound with duct tape
on her living room floor
and she had found her
lace and her pictures
and she smiled down at him

the smile that broke
the grief
